What I’ve been up to … entertainment-wise, of course.

4 May

It has been almost two months since I last blogged, which I honestly can’t believe is true. For those of you wanting proof that I haven’t been sitting around my apartment doing nothing, head on over to my author page at EW and check out my latest blogs. But while I have you here, I might as well catch you up on my entertainment findings as of late …

olivia and fitz

Bates Motel: Watch it. Love it. I’m obsessed, even though (or perhaps because) the cops suck.

Scandal: LIVE IT. BREATHE IT. LOVE IT. Binge-watching this show might be the best decision I’ve made in the past few months.

Iron Man 3: Go see it. It’s a lot of fun, and it’s much better than two.

Grey’s Anatomy: Killing it this season. I cannot wait to see what Shonda Rhimes does with the finale. No plane crashes, please.

The Vampire Diaries: Elijah’s return was SEXY PERFECTION, and I think this last stretch of episodes has been top-notch. Between the tension that Silas builds and the fun that the show had with no-humanity Elena — not to mention Nina’s amazing performance when Elena finally did get her emotions back — I am very, very excited for what the next two weeks have in store for us. One last shout-out to the writing as of late. Just the right touch of humor. And P.S. Elijah’s cry face … UGH. EVERYTHING.

The Originals: I’m so into this show. It’s such a boy’s club and overall power struggle, but I love the darker, more mature vibe it gives off. And hello, Marcel! Charles Michael Davis is captivating in this role. I like him much more here than on Grey’s. And you all know that as far as I’m concerned, the more Elijah the better.

Nashville: Deacon and Rayna finally gave into their feelings for each other, and I could not be happier. But am I the only one hoping her father would just die already? Also, I do not care about Avery at all.

The Voice: For me, it’s all about Team Adam’s Judith Hill and Sarah Simmons.

New Girl: The virginity episode might be the funniest of the season. And I heart Nick and Jess. Who knew Nick was such a good kisser?!

Parenthood: Renewed! Yay!

Southland: Things don’t look good in terms of a renewal, but this last season was beyond powerful. In my opinion, no actor deserves an Emmy more than Michael Cudlitz does right now. He was simply breathtaking this season. And I’m obsessed with Ben McKenzie’s final scene of the season. I think it’s the best work he has ever done (along with the great Shawn Hatosy).

Okay, it’s Saturday, which means I have to go have a life, aka re-watch this week’s Vampire Diaries. See y’all later!

TVD Speedy Recap: The introduction of Silas, the return of Katherine and the departure of Jeremy

14 Mar

AAAHHHH!!! That was a mix between my excitement for tonight’s episode of The Vampire Diaries along with my stress about how busy I’ve been. I know that I have sucked at recapping the last few episodes, so let me start by saying that I loved them. Trips are always fun on TVD, especially ones that include love squares, cute butts and hottie hunters with accents.

Here’s a very brief account of what the last three episodes have meant for the people (rather, person) and supernatural beings of Mystic Falls:

Into the Wild

Rebekah, Stefan, Elena, Damon, Jeremy, Bonnie and Shane headed to a remote island off the shores of Nova Scotia to find the cure. There, we discovered that Shane had been manipulated by Silas this time last year, and the entire bringing-back-the-dead thing was basically fake. Emotions were running high as Damon admitted he didn’t want Elena to take the cure, Jeremy was kidnapped, and Damon grew more suspicious of Shane’s intentions. And after Shane (and his witch friend) kidnapped Bonnie and Jeremy to go raise Silas, it appeared that for once, the gang should’ve listened to Damon.

On the search for Jeremy, two new faces appeared: Shrek, the newest hunter, and Katherine, who was as feisty as ever. After taking down Elena, Katherine fed Silas Jeremy’s blood to wake him up and ran off with the cure. And to double-up on the bad news, Silas drained Jeremy and then snapped his neck. In good news, Stefan and Elena are friends again! Yay?

And finally, we get to the most emotional episode of the season. Kudos to Nina Dobrev, who KILLED IT. Basically, Elena spent the first half of the episode thinking Jeremy’s ring would bring him back (aka being in denial). Stefan took Elena and Jeremy’s body home, while Damon tried to find Bonnie, who was busy hanging out with “Shane” who is either Silas in Shane’s body or purely a hallucination. Either way, Damon found her (and they hugged!!), and then she started talking crazy. She wanted to organize another sacrifice, lift the veil to the “other side,” and save Jeremy. But as Bonnie planned to save the day, Elena accepted reality.

Elena’s plan? Burn down the house with Jer in it. After all, there’s nothing left for her there anymore. But it was only after Damon told her to turn off her emotions that she went through with it. And Jeremy, Elena’s journal, the kitchen of murder and the porch of memorable moments went up in flames. SO MANY FEELS.

OK, that’s about it. Let’s see what no-humanity Elena has in store for us tonight … other than nudity, of course.

I love Paul Walker: Check out the trailer for his new movie ‘Hours’

12 Mar

I will not apologize for what I’m about to say: I love Paul Walker. Yes, I am obsessed with the Fast & Furious franchise, and yes, I own copies of Into the Blue and Eight Below. I enjoy staring at his blue eyes and ripped abs for hours at a time, and I am not ashamed. That being said, I never expected him to take on a role like he has in this new small film, Hours. In Hours, Walker plays a newly single father, who, after his wife dies during child birth, has to try and keep his daughter alive in New Orleans during the wrath of Katrina.

And yes, I will be seeing this one as well. Who’s with me?

Apologies + A Badass Trailer

22 Feb

You guys, I am SO BEHIND. I promise during this brief hiatus from TVD to get you a recap of all things I’ve missed (and LOVED) from the past two weeks or so. And I owe you like a million movie trailers and other things, so I’ll be repaying that debt forever. In the meantime, I hope you will forgive me.

Here’s my apology:

This AMAZING Fast & Furious 6 trailer (Dom & Letty forever!):

And this sexy picture of Kyle Chandler, who is returning to TV!

I’ll talk to you all SOON.

P.S. Megan Fox in the new TMNT movie?! I don’t know how I feel about this, but I don’t think it’s good.

TVD Speedy Recap: Villain-bonding time and one Hulk-esque moment

7 Feb

I cannot fully describe how much I loved last week’s TVD episode “A View To A Kill.” In what was probably my favorite ep of the season (definitely top two), Klaus and Damon shared some top-notch moments discussing being evil and finding love. Meanwhile, Stefan discovered the softer side to Rebekah, while Elena spent the episode trying to find a way for Jeremy to kill Kol. Bonnie’s mom showed up and messed with the plan, but luckily Bonnie is a fully fledged BAMF, so it didn’t end up being a problem. Jer was able to kill Kol (which is depressing), BUT he accidentally did it RIGHT IN FRONT OF KLAUS. Luckily, BAMF Bonnie was there to trap Klaus in Elena’s living room because … why not? Maybe he can finally catch up on some Pretty Little Liars.

Also, Elena found out about Stefan and Rebekah, and Jeremy ripped off his shirt (aka completed his mark). I’ll leave you with some of my favorite lines, because the writing on this episode was too good:

“If you’re gonna be bad, be bad with purpose. Otherwise you’re just not worth forgiving.” -Damon’s advice to Klaus during their villain-bonding sesh

“Well that’s the other problem with people today. They’ve lost faith. And in that loss, they no longer know who they should fear.” -Kol talking about Silas

“Hope you like The Cure.” -Stefan joking with Rebekah about his musical selection at their private dance

“It’s one of his trademarks … like his brooding, and his hair.” -Damon on brother Stefan’s lack of communication

And finally, I have to say this: Joseph Morgan was amazing in this episode. No one can scare you and make you want to cry for them with the same look quite like he can.

Tonight, our new love square hits the road! This should be fun …

TVD Recap: Not your average high school experience … and also, vamp sex

31 Jan

I know, I suck at recapping. And I could easily make some pun here about how I’m just trying to be a vampire, but I’ll refrain. Instead, I’m going to attempt to sum up the past two episodes of The Vampire Diaries in record time. Disclaimer: You really should watch them. Well, here goes nothing:

In Rebekah’s idea of a grown-up game of Truth or Dare, Elena reveals that she’s no longer in love with Stefan, and that he made her feel like a project. Stefan’s reaction? Telling Rebekah to erase every memory of Elena from his mind. It. is. heartbreaking. Of course, Rebekah doesn’t erase anyone’s memory, but that doesn’t change the fact that Elena was there to hear Stefan’s plea. Elsewhere, Tyler feels bad for not saving his mom, and Klaus is helping speed up Damon’s “training” of the little-hunter-that-could. Oh, and Elena calls Damon to tell him she loves him. Disclaimer: Everyone takes what Elena says in the entire episode with a grain of salt … and in doing so, Stefan and Rebekah team up to find the cure (and therefore find the truth about Elena’s feelings). P.S. Kol is very, very scared of Silas.

Next episode: You’re either Team Klaus, Team Shane, Team Rebekah or Team (mystery person) in the race for the cure. (Could the mystery person be Elijah?! Pretty please?!) After Elena discovers that Klaus has been using Matt as vampire bait to force Jeremy to kill, she’s not very happy with her new love. And neither is Kol, who crashes Damon’s party and compels him to kill Jeremy. He doesn’t … but, in a moment reminiscent of Stefan and Elena in the gym in Season 3, Episode 5, Damon cannot resist compulsion for love, though he does tell Jeremy to shoot him in the heart, so you be the judge. Stefan saves Jeremy by locking Damon in the basement, where he bumps into Elena. She’s upset that he’s Team Rebekah, and he really doesn’t care. She thinks he’s acting out because he’s hurt, but he shuts her up with the best line of the season: “You don’t know what I look like when I’m not in love with you.” Boom. And after delivering a line like that, there’s only one thing to do … go have crazy sex with Rebekah … and so he does. Also, Bonnie is an out-of-control (possibly not in a good way) badass witch, and the Original family isn’t doing so great in the bonding department.

Next up? The hunt for the cure continues, and this happens:

stefan rebekah dance

And this …
